| Bagged Cargo | Hessian, some by hand, some by hook - this can causing rips and spillages. Plastics on pallets can slip easily and paper bags stacked can rupture | Bagged Cargo will be damaged if stowed near moist Cargo or Cargo liable to sweat | |
| Bundels & Bales | Hooks for bales of cotton, though these are unsuitable for skins, furs - most bailed commodities can stand being dropped | Vunerable to chafing - should be well protected by matting or dunnage from sharp edges and other cargo | |
| Cases, Crates & Cartons | Mechanical Handling, ie: pallet trucks - not Cargo hooks | Heavy cases should be reserved for bottom stowage with smaller on top | |
| Drums, Barrels & Casks | Normall rope slings, nets or trays for lifting on/off ship | Drums on their side should not have Cargo on top. Fibreboard drums are normally always stored upright | |
| Intermediate Bulk Containers | The majority of bags are designed for existing methods of cargo handling | Some of these are allowed to be stuffed in ISO containers | |
| Special Cargoes | With Great Care! Mechanical Handling with goods on pallets | "Special Cargoes" is usually given to desirable commodities which require special stowage, supervision and careful checking and tallying |
