Risks Covered by (A) Clauses
These clauses provide cover in respect of all risks of loss of or damage to the cargo.
The term "All Risks" broadly speaking means any accidental event which is external to the cargo. The exclusions listed in the clauses therefore exclude loss, damage or expense from the wilful act of the insured, the inherent nature of the cargo and the ordinary loss in weight or volume of the cargo. (See " list of exclusions" for details )
In order to make a valid claim under the Institute Cargo Clauses (A) the insured merely has to show that there has been loss or damage to the cargo insured during the insured voyage.
Underwriters will be liable to pay this claim unless the loss or damage is specifically excluded.
